It doesn't mean that to me said...: Nothing wrong with imitating a pagan festival of darkness, fire, and death holy day, so long as the kids have a good time and besides we pretty much christianize most of it anyway.

The peer pressure for not joining in would be too much to bare anyway. I mean after all, it's only Halloween, it's not like we're actually bowing down or anything.

The kids don't know any better, why should we instuct them now and spoil it for them.

And as far as all that 1 Cor. 10:21, 1 Thes. 5:22 and that pesky Jeremiah 10:2, stuff is concerned, it's in the old part of the book anyway and I don't think it applies in 2010, because it doesn't mean that to me.

Anonymous said...: Well let's see...what would you rather have them do, play dress-up and enjoy some fellowship and treats in a structured, spiritual environment with supervision....or be out terrorizing your neighborhood, smashing pumpkins and creating a physical hazzard, soaping your windows, toilet papering your trees, and in general creating havock? Use some common sense....most kids that age aren't even aware of the pagan aspect of this holiday (the historical significance of it)....they're not taught that at home, most (hopefully) are taught the importance and relevance of Christianity...and Halloween is just a "let's pretend I'm a...(fill in the blank) day".
